Born on 6, January 1960 Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, India. Graduation (1977-81) and post-graduation (1982-86) in top merit from G R Medical College, Gwalior (MP). Postdoctoral training in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery M.Ch (1986-89) from Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), New Delhi. Post-specialisation trainings (1993-2000) in the UK at Killingbeck (Leeds), Walsgrave (Coventry), Birmingham University Hospital and Children Hospital (Birmingham), North Staffordshire Hospital (New Castle-under Lyme), and at St. Anthony’s Hospital (London) UK. Topped and secured gold medals at various levels of medical education from graduation to postdoctoral levels. Assistant Professor at AIIMS (1996), New Delhi before joining at SGPGIMS, Lucknow in April 2000. Currently, I am serving as Senior Professor and the head of the department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute, Lucknow. Decorated with UP state's, the highest scientific award “Vigyan Gaurav”, 2015-16 by the Ministry of Higher Education, Department of Science & Technology, Uttar Pradesh.     My unique distinctions were 1st ever-Asian cardiac surgeon in the UK, chosen to be the “Marian Ionescu Fellow” following a global competition. A clinical and research senior registrar (1991-93) with the “Children’s Heart Surgery Foundation” at Leeds, UK. One of the youngest professor and head at one of the Top Medical Institutes in India. Co-inventor and joint patent holder with IIT-Kanpur of a “Trileaflet heart valve” and chief investigator of Biological Valve under “PM's Make in India Programme”. Made significant contributions in the basic research (H1 Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Enzymatic assays) and has contributed significantly to the understanding of the molecular and physio-chemical processes during cardiopulmonary bypass in order to make this science safer.  Performed over 17000 open heart surgeries with special interest in the surgical treatment of irregular heartbeats (acquired arrhythmia) surgery of heart, repair and replacement of rheumatic heart valves, volume reduction of enlarged heart chambers (bi-atrial heart size reduction), surgery of complex birth defects of heart (neonates, children and adults).  Some of my firsts are, “First Indian surgeon” to perform stem cell transplantation in the heart (2002) for the regeneration of dead heart muscle after the heart attack, First neonatal heart surgery (below 13 days) in the state of UP, First in India to perform Quadricuspid aortic valve Repair (2000), First to perform coronary bypass surgery, congenital and valve replacement all in the beating heart in the state of UP, First to perform open heart surgery in overseas patients from Canada, Afghanistan, Dubai, Nepal, Bahrain, Egypt) at SGPGI, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.  Member and Fellow of several prestigious national and international societies, examiner to various national universities. Served as honorary secretary of the Telemedicine Society of India (2015-2017). I am an alumnus of Indian Institute of Management (IIM- Ahmedabad), where I have gained my “Senior Executive Hospital Management” training. With over 100 international presentations and over 50 international publications in high indexed peer-reviewed journals. Authored 2 books on cardiac surgery and currently working on 6 others which will be published in the next 5 years. I am an avid research worker and Telemedicine enthusiast in the areas of M-health, Content development and e-learning solutions using social media. I was the first heart surgeon in the world to use Facebook for super-specialty teaching and training (CSiI), as a proof-of-concept model. As part of my societal obligations beyond my medical and scientific commitments, I devote myself to the social aspect of care in rural India and am the founder and president of Arogya Bharti at SGPGI, Lucknow. Our team of over 100 doctors and medical health care workers work regularly to raise health standards by prevention of both infectious and life-style diseases in 2 adopted villages of snake charmers in Lucknow.  I have travelled over 1.5 lac km in the rural and semiurban Uttar Pradesh for patients follow-up at Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Allahabad, Ajodhya and Shahjahanpur.  My hobbies are painting, poetry writing and researching in Vedic science and finding its contemporary relevance both in prevention and treatments of lifestyle disorders. have been writing extensively on Yoga, Vedic Medicine and Heart diseases, for over 4 years.
